Yes. I did that with the previous qemu installation and it was working.
Anyway, to avoid any sort of doubt, I've been compiling directly on the nodes
./configure --enable-kvm --target-list="i386-softmmu x86_64-softmmu"

First note:
whenever I start or stop the guest, I get these messages in sheep.log
