I'm sorry, I'm not understanding much.
What is a knot? Is it   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knot_%28unit%29   ?
How many servers/nodes do you have?
How many GB do you need for each vdi?
Are the servers connected by a Gb netwrok?
What is the 3-10Mbps speed you are talking about?
