Ok, I have upgrade to last sheepdog git, seem to work better but
now:
#collie vdi create image1 1G
start qemu with file=sheepdog:image1
#collie vdi tree
image1---(you are here)
content of image1:
#touch beforesnap1 /
#ls -l
/beforesnap1
now I take a snapshot snap1:
#collie vdi snapshot -s snap1 image
#collie vdi tree
image1---[2012-08-27 09:07]---(you are here)
content of image1:
#touch aftersnap1
#ls -l
/beforesnap1
/aftersnap1
Now, I stop the qemu guest.
and start it with file=sheepdog:image1:snap1
#collie vdi tree
#image1---[2012-08-27 09:07]---(you are here)
#ls -l
/beforesnap1
/aftersnap1
????? I expected to have only /beforesnap1
#collie vdi tree (after ls a new snapshot is created?)
image1---[2012-08-27 09:07]-+-[2012-08-27 09:09]
`-(you are here)
#collie vdi list
s image1 1 1.0 GB 60 MB 0.0 MB 2012-08-27 09:07 117819 3 snap1
s image1 2 1.0 GB 0.0 MB 60 MB 2012-08-27 09:09 11781a 3
image1 3 1.0 GB 8.0 MB 52 MB 2012-08-27 09:11 11781b 3
Is it the normal behaviour ?

Just to be sure, I can make snapshot when the vm is online ?

qemu-kvm 1.2 rc1 and sheepdog 0.4.
I'll retry today with qemu-kvm 1.1 stable, and also sheepdog 0.4 and sheepdog git.

The way you tried is correct, but I've never seen such results...
What are the revisions of your qemu and sheepdog?
Thanks,
