[sheepdog] libsheepdog?

A while back, there was some discussion about how to use sheepdog
outside the kvm environment (e.g., w/ xen VMs).

Since then, I noticed a Google Summer of Code work project idea to
"Create sheepdog client library" that would "enable other clients than
QEMU to use Sheepdog block-level volumes."

Did that ever happen?
