[sheepdog] enable-diskvnodes question

Hello. Where i can find info about diskvnodes?
I can find comit http://lists.wpkg.org/pipermail/sheepdog/2014-April/014762.html
that enabling this option can save some time in recovery then the big
disk failed.
Why it not enabled by default? Does it safe to enable it? In case of
1Tb disk (5 disks on each server), does this provide recovery speedup?
