[wpkg-announce] WPKG 1.1.1-M3, lots of new features

Hi all,

As I got some queries if this is a test, beta, pre-release or ready for 
production I would like to add some notes here.


As indicated it is a "milestone" release. Which means that it is 
released for testing only. As you can see on <http://wpkg.org/Download> 
the current stable version is still WPKG 0.9.10 while 1.0-RC9 is the 
current testing release. As version 1.0 is considered to be very stable 
and much enhanced to the previous 0.9.x release I recommend to use 
1.0(-RC9). It is going to be released soon. Over the past months only 
minor problems have been discovered with 1.0-RCx (see Bugzilla).

The 1.1.x-Mx Release branch is meant for testing only. New features are 
introduced here - these features have not been very well tested and 
might cause problems in production environments. Of course, if you like 
experiments we would be happy if you test it and provide feedback. But 
it is not intended to use this release for productive usage yet.

So again, here's a list of current versions in development:

WPKG 0.9.10: Stable release, frezed, some known problems and 
limitations. Will be outdated soon.

WPKG 1.0-RCx: Stable tree for 1.0 release. Very close to be released. 
Personally I consider it to be very stable and ready for production. I 
would recommend to use it. I announced to block new feature request for 
1.0 release - only bug fixes will be made here.

WPKG 1.1-M: Testing release; basically the testbed for new features, 
trials and larger changes. Not to be used in production environment. Use 
at your own risk. Test reports and feedback appreciated.
