I don't know if i've understood well the question, but i try to answer.

WPKG symply use standard file access for gathering configuration file,
'server side' xml and binaries.

So you can use also a Windows 98 box as a 'WPKG server', or even use no
windows sharing at all if you use a pre-execution script that with some
other mean (scp, unison, rsync, ...) copy the WPKG in local disk and
run from here.


I don't know if WPKG are transparent to some other sharing technologies
(NFS, Novell, Banyas... if they are still alive), i suppose yes, with
proper configuration.
