So msiexec might have problems with double backslashes in path? I would 
consider this to be a bug since c:\\\\\\Windows is equal to C:\Windows - 
as well as C:\.\.\.\.\Windows ;-)

But I ought to remember that I had a similar problem once... strange 
msiexec behavior.
