One should be able to use an UNC path without modifying the current script.

If you need to use a real HTTP address, there would be a need to check the paths and determine if they are web addresses, then download the files from the server to a local temporary cache, create the report and delete the temporary files.
This would need the smallest adjustments, I think.

Lets hear, what Grubi thinks about this.
