The current implementation of host properties matching is really flexible, so I
have resolved this issue using package assignments similar to the ones below:

    <!-- snip -->
    <package package-id="AdobeReader9"  os="5\.0\.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]"/>
    <package package-id="AdobeReader10"
os="5\.[1-9]\.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]|6\.[0-9]\.[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]"/>
    <!-- snip -->
</profile>

I would still see a use for the host properties matching for variables.

I would now close this enhancement request and open a new one for the
variables, if that is OK.
