WPKG is the easiest solution to implement software deployment, anything
else just takes too long to learn and adapt.
We have introduced another deployment system about two years ago, but
WPKG is still the main system, since some things are just too complex to
implement.
WPKG uses everything as is, other deployment systems force you to create
real packages, not just assemble a set of command lines.
I have never had a problem with the default timeout, I even need it in
some cases.
I am also running the initial installation more or less semi-attended,
since the initial setup of a machine is taking quite long anyways.
Updates on the other hand are running smooth with my current packages
and some have been real trouble at the beginning, but in the end
everything was resolved by investing some time and research.
I am now at a point where I just change revision numbers and everything
goes well for an update.
