I am using the template approach (with some modifications) for firefox 
and thunderbird addons as mentioned there 
http://wpkg.org/Firefox#Firefox_3.6_Series_Extension_Templates.

The extensions must have the first <em:id> </em:id> XML tag to be the 
extensions id and must be on one line in the install.rdf file inside the 
.xpi Archive.

Is it possible to send attachments to this list ?
I think putting the code inside this mail would be no good because of 
the line breaks and it is more than just one file.
I can mail these files directly to your address if you want to take a look.
