Dont know if this is a problem. I installed the client and set the
execution context to that of a specific local user (admin), left the
path user blank. However the service installs and appears to run in the
system context? Does it invoke the command as the user?

I just installed WPKG Client 1.2.0 (final) on a clean Windows XP SP2
(SP2 + all patches slipstreamed) german version virtual machine set up
over RIS. It worked perfectly fine.

This I couldn't test since I don't have a non-SP2 setup source here.
During the weekend I can probably try the same with Windows XP SP2
german but I have some doubts that the result will be different.
btw. What about the WPKG 1.0 release? Didn't we plan to release it some
weeks ago already? ;-)
I suggest releasing 1.0 RC8 as attached on bug report 103
(<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="http://bugzilla.wpkg.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103"><http://bugzilla.wpkg.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103></a>).
