I think about 3 months back and we managed to get dio dd write from VM/virtio at 30M/s with 3 copies on 3 machines over 1Gbps line and data on ext4.

That appeared to hit the line bottleneck so we have been satisfied. Recovery of lost nodes we tested with a similar setup was painfully slow, however.

Take this with a grain of salt, it's been too long.
