   Would you please show me how you launch the VM with qemu and sheep
(for complete cmdline if any)?

  For a quick reference, you can start sheep with '-d' to open the debug
mode to produce detailed log, and start up qemu with 'cache=writeback'
if you want to use object cache from sheep.
