mailing list archives?

Since the group is hosted somewhere else, I was wondering about two things:

1) the new mailing list has no archive,
2) would old messages be imported when the archive is finally created 
somewhere.

BTW, I can create an archive on http://lists.wpkg.org if no one comes up 
with a better idea (although I'm sure someone will); to import old 
messages I'd need an archive in mbox format (my own stgt-devel archive 
is far from being complete).
