Are you sure that you use your environment is "clean" (not including
packages such as linux-kernel-headers from backport, your own kernel
header files, etc).

I can build the latest git on Debian Etch (POWER).

It's better if the code can be compiled on any environments. Try the
following patch with the latest git?
