Tomo, It turned out that such a de-serialization of the login redirect 
code would go pretty deep into the login code/logic and somehow is far 
from being simple to implement. For the time being, we decided to use 
the simpler "select based" approach as even if not optimal it makes 
things to behave better, I'll send you the updated patch, in case you 
want to pick it up at this point.
