A better way to do this, and easily done if you're on Active Directory, is to
use DFS. Samba can do this as well, minus the automated replication.

Thus you can have a name like \\domain.name.com\share-name\path, and the
server(s) which responds to domain.name.com (you should add a CNAME for this)
will handle it.
