Hello list,

I've tried every way i could find, through google, to install the latest
version of Windows Live Messenger, without luck.
One of the methods i followed was installing the software locally, in
one workstation, and then copying the .msi files found in the .cache
directory. I then tried to install them with the following .xml file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<packages>

<package
   id="messenger"
   name="Windows Live Messenger"
   revision="00007"
   reboot="false"
   priority="10">

   <check type="uninstall" condition="exists" path="Windows Live
Messenger" />

   <install cmd='RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove' />

   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\crt.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\choiceguard.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\SegoeFont.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\WLXSuite.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\wllogin.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\wlc.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\Contacts.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\dw20shared.msi" /q' />
   <install cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\Messenger.msi" /q' />

   <upgrade cmd='RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\crt.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\choiceguard.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\SegoeFont.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\WLXSuite.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\wllogin.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\wlc.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\Contacts.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\dw20shared.msi" /q' />
   <upgrade cmd='msiexec /i "%SOFTWARE%\messenger\Messenger.msi" /q' />

   <remove cmd='RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove' />

</package>

</packages>

Note: The RunDll32 command is there to remove the original version of
Windows Messenger

The procedure starts to install the components, but stops at the
installation of dw20shared.msi, which apparently is the Microsoft
Application Error Reporting Tool.

Can someone shed some light over this?

Best regards,

Hugo Monteiro.
