Yes I know. This is true for Windows 7 too. Personally I don't like this way of
user notification too much (never use it personally). WPKG Client is supposed
to inform the user in much more details about the currently ongoing activity.
However also this does not work any more on Windoes Vista/7.

Currently you might use the pre-/post-execution feature of WPKG client to
notify users or change wpkg.js to use "msg" instead of "net send". In any case
this way of notifying users is extremely limited and annoying in most cases.
The dialog box cannot be "cancelled" by WPKG so it stays there until the user
closes it. They also queue up and there is no possibility to overwrite
displayed messages. So if the user is not at his desk he will find a message
that WPKG starts updating, then he clicks OK and immediately has to close
another message that WPKG finished.

Alternatively msg offers a "timeout" where the message disappears
automatically. But if the user does not read the message while displayed (let's
say for 10 seconds...) he will not know that something is going on.

Moreover this messages do not prevent the user to use the machine - so it's not
much more safe than just doing all the work in the background.

So I am thinking about allowing the administrator to define a timeout (or 0, so
the message stays until the user accepts it) which defaults to 5 seconds. After
that the notification will automatically close. It's just informing the user if
he's at the desk and looking at the screen and it will anyway not prevent the
user to perform any action.
