I've recently seen this: http://wpkg.org/Firefox#Firefox_Extension_Templates

But I personally just use 7zip to extract the extensions into the proper 
directory within the Firefox/extensions/ or Thunderbird/extensions/ 
directory.  (The "proper" directory is given in the extension's install.rdf)

Any way you do it, it's actually very simple.
