Atheros uses madwifi - see http://madwifi.org/

However, I never compiled madwifi, as I don't have an Atheros card.

I think someone mailed me once and said he's running Atheros card, but I 
can't find that message in my archive anymore (there was no public 
archive then, and I was mailed privately).
