I have just committed 1.2.1-RC39 with a bunch of additional changes (not related 
to wpkg.js).

Get it from here:

It's pretty untested currently as I am working remotely and I don't have my full 
test environment ready. However the changes are limited to the fix for the issue 
reported by you.
