thanks for the details.

When I was investigating the cause of the hang I did in fact find this bug
report, but it was tagged as fixed back in 2009, so I kept looking. Having it
marked as WONTFIX (together with your details and the FAQ entry) should make it
easier for other people to find the solution when they get bitten by this.
