[debian-non-standard] wireless on Asus wl500g Deluxe and 2.6 kernel

Hello Frank,

Wireless on the Asus WL-500g DeLuxe with the opensource b43 driver has 
been to my experiences quite problematic. I have been recompiling a lot 
of OpenWrt kernels with different versions of the b43 driver, the 
firmware and hostapd ( the daemon required to run AP mode ).

However, I have booked some results and made a webpage about it: 
http://www.debwrt.net/debwrt/b43/. It's part of my project to use Debian 
on the Asus WL-500g DeLuxe and compatible hardware. It combines an 
OpenWrt compiled kernel with the Debian MIPSEL port. 2.4 and 2.6 kernel 
downloads are available, as well as an entire base Debian root 
filesystem(50 MB) - wireless etc should work out of the box. The 2.6 
kernel has wireless running in AP, but with some issues; see the 
website. Wireless with the 2.4. kernel works flawless ( to my knowledge ).

Looking into svn trunk sources of OpenWrt, I can see that there have 
been some changes, so maybe compiling a new OpenWrt kernel from SVN will 
work. I'm waiting for OpenWrt to create a stable 2.6 kernel for this 
hardware, before I build a new 2.6 kernel image and a Debian MIPSEL root 
filesystem for the Asus router.
