-.- ... my <download...> tags have been there months before they were
implemented into wpkg and i have to change quite a few scripts (leave alone all
my .xml files) because of this... i'm not really happy about that.

And what should i call the tag instead? It is called "download" for a reason
because it does exactly that. Calling it "my_own_download" or "download_other"
or whatever kinda breaks the whole idea of sane naming schemes.

A single switch in config.xml would be _a lot_ easier ...

Just an example of how my current package definitions look like:
(i've added quite a few custom fields to my xml files..)

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<packages>
<package id="openoffice" name="OpenOffice 2" revision="2.4.0" priority="100"
reboot="true" notify="false" vendor="IServ" license="true" editable="false">
  <comment content='OpenOffice - The free and open productivity suite' />

  <variable name='ci_openoffice' value='34306' />

  <depends package-id="sunjavajre" />

  <check type="logical" condition="and">
    <check type="file" condition="exists" path="%PROGRAMFILES%\OpenOffice.org
